Cookie policy

Last updated 2026-10-23.

What cookies are. A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits, so the site can remember something between pages.

The cookies this archive sets. Six cookies, and none is set just by reading: a guest who changes nothing gets no cookies at all, and each cookie below arrives only when you do the thing that needs it: sign in, save a preference, or pass the adult-content gate.

Keeping you logged in. The session cookie, named PHPSESSID, is set when you sign in and carries your sign-in from page to page; it is a session cookie, which ends when you close your browser.

Remembering your choices. Five preference cookies, each lasting one year from the last time you saved the setting. A cookie named theme remembers your reading theme: paper, sepia, or night. A cookie named reader remembers your reading typography: text size, typeface, line spacing, paragraph style, page width, and whether a chapter scrolls or shows as pages. A cookie named lang remembers the interface language you picked. A cookie named toc remembers that you want the chapter list first when you open a story. A cookie named age_ok remembers that you passed the adult-content gate, so adult-rated stories do not stop at the warning page on every visit.

What we do not set. No analytics cookies, because there is no analytics. No advertising cookies, because there is no advertising. Nothing that follows you to other sites, no third-party tracking cookies, and no profile built from your reading. That is also why there is no cookie banner: nothing here needs your consent, so there is nothing to ask about. One thing outside this list: the edge service that stands in front of the site may set its own short-lived security cookie to tell people from automated traffic. It is not ours, we cannot read it, and Cloudflare's own pages describe it.

Managing cookies. Your browser's settings can block or delete cookies, and that control is always yours. Blocking the preference cookies costs your settings and nothing else: the theme follows your device's own light or dark setting, reading typography returns to the built-in defaults, the interface returns to English, stories open at chapter one instead of the chapter list, and the adult-content gate asks its question again. Blocking the session cookie means staying logged in does not work; everything public still reads normally while signed out.

Do Not Track. This archive performs no tracking, so there is nothing to switch off, and we do not respond to Do Not Track signals because we never track.

Changes to this policy. When this policy changes we post the new date at the top of this page and announce material changes on the site news feed before they take effect.
